At Beaumont Forest, we provide a range of attractive and high-quality timber flooring options at a competitive price. Wooden flooring looks smart and is practical in most homes, whether you’re looking for a sleek, modern look or a cosier and more rustic vibe.
Option number one – Solid oak flooring
Solid oak flooring looks expensive and prestigious – but it’s its durability that sets it apart. As a hardwood, oak is extremely hard-wearing, so can last for decades and still look excellent in your home. In fact, as its colour changes and gets richer over the years, some believe it gets more beautiful with age. The distinctive grains and knots that are often present in oak floorboards add a rustic feel, giving your flooring a timeless appeal.
Solid oak is also highly resistant to fungal infections and insects, which contributes to its durability. Although it is one of the pricier options as far as flooring goes – installing solid oak flooring has been shown to increase the value of a property, and is therefore a great investment. At Beaumont Forest, we sell only carefully selected and graded solid oak flooring, to ensure our customers always receive good value products that they’re happy with.
Option number two - Redwood flooring
It’s a common misconception that ‘softwood’ won’t be hardy or durable enough to be appropriate for flooring. In fact, softwoods can be an excellent choice for flooring and can last for decades – they just may need refinishing more often than a hardwood floor would, for example every 8-10 years.
Another benefit of choosing softwood is that it is more affordable than hardwood if you’re on a tighter budget. Redwood is a great choice because it resists decay, and has a beautiful natural colouring, however it’s worth bearing in mind that redwood flooring often requires more maintenance.
Option number 3 – Engineered wood flooring
Engineered wood flooring was created to combine the best of both hardwood and softwood flooring. Engineered flooring is more environmentally friendly, as only the top layer is made from the slow-growing hardwood – the other layers are fast-growing softwood. This also means that it’s cheaper to buy and install, yet aesthetically looks almost identical to hardwood.
Engineered flooring also works better with underfloor heating, and is suitable for bathrooms (or anywhere moisture levels are high) as it doesn’t expand and contract as much as a solid hardwood would.
