How to transform a room with timber flooring

Tuesday, October 25, 2016

There’s nothing quite like a real wood floor. The colour, the feel and the overall style are incomparable. They’re durable, beautiful and they’re never going to go out of style which is why we have developed a range of top quality timber flooring that makes the perfect addition to any home.

When it comes to doing up a house or room, timber flooring is now an affordable option that can totally revamp your space. There are a few things to consider before you lay the flooring to make the biggest impact.

Consider how you lay your timber flooring

This is something that not a lot of people think about. Lengthways, horizontally or parquet are all options that suit different circumstances. Most wooden floors are laid from the front of the house to the back, or parallel to the longest walls. Having directional changes at break points and wall separations can work well.

An unusual but striking way to lay timber flooring, diagonally certainly isn’t the easiest option and it will take much more time. With that said, it’s a great way to make a design statement that people will definitely notice.

Consider the wood colour

Another beautiful thing about real wood is the variations in colour. You can get timber flooring in very light wood to extremely dark, and every shade in between. Darker timber flooring tends to work better in larger, more spacious, rooms and lighter timber can give the impression of more space in smaller rooms.

Contrast your walls and floors

A really quick and easy way to make your rooms stand out is by contrasting the colour of the walls to the colour of floor; dark against light and vice versa. Keep your mouldings and skirtings simple to accentuate the colours.

We’ve got a range of stunning timber flooring for you to choose from here at Beaumont Forest. Please feel free to get in touch or pop into one of our three branches to find out more about our collection. We’d be happy to advise you on the best way to lay the flooring and how to maintain it.
