Why are we stocking I-Joists? The new Part L Building Regulations demand a 25% improvement in energy efficiency performance. The most practical and cost effective way of meeting the new requirements is by improving the fabric of the building. By improving the thermal performance and air tightness of the dwelling, ventilation will become a critical issue which will force our builders to consider the use of Mechanically Ventilated Heat Recovery systems (MVHR's) in the fabric of their buildings. This will create more ventilation ducting which the traditional 8" x 2" and 9" x 2" joists will not be able to accommodate.
The 225i can accommodate up to 148mm round service holes making it easier to install MVHR systems. These joists are also straighter and more uniform in strength, stiffness and size than traditional timber and are less prone to issues such as twisting, warping and shrinking.
